Testing for Excellence
Extensive mock-up testing is an excellent way to ensure a project meets performance criteria to pass inspections and meet local and state regulations. Performance mock-ups test for water infiltration, air infiltration, structural loading, building movements for floor-to-floor live-load, seismic movement, thermal transmission, and sound mitigation.
Doing it by the Book
All designs and systems are completed in accordance with the project specifications and industry standards. Structural criteria is validated by the mock-up test, along with licensed structural engineers’ calculations.
Partnering with the Best
For decades, AGA has partnered with laboratories to carry out performance mock-ups. Partners have the following certifications to ensure testing aligns with industry standards.
- Fenestration & Glazing Industry Alliance (FGIA)
- California Division of the State Architect (DSA)
- American Society of Nondestructive Testing (ASNT)
- International Accreditation Service (IAS)
- International Code Council (ICC)
- ASTM International
- AAMA
The Process
The AGA shop team assembles mock-ups in-house that match the project’s finished output, while taking into account any prescribed sizing for the testing criteria. These mock-up assemblies are then transported to the appropriate facility — based on the specific testing equipment required to match the needs of that particular building, localities, and jurisdictional authority.
Quality Evaluations
To ensure proper quality assurance, testing extensively covers:
- Air inflation – ASTM E 283
- Water infiltration under static and dynamic conditions – ASTM E 331 (water penetration under static pressure), AAMA 501.1 (water penetration under dynamic pressure)
- Vertical displacement – AAMA 501.7
- Structural loading – ASTM E 330
- Seismic stability – AAMA 501.4 (elastic and inelastic)
Planning for HCAI Success
AGA’s reliable quality control program ensures HCAI compliance.
Our extensive experience with healthcare facilities has resulted in our own internal procedures to proactively identify new materials and systems for HCAI compliance testing. We take advantage of our legacy knowledge, tested materials inventory, and experience with HCAI to keep all healthcare projects on schedule.

Testing beyond PMUs
Testing can be customized to meet the needs of owners, developers, government oversight, and more. Advanced testing can often include testing for:
- Thermal Cycling
- Acoustic
- Fire
- Impact
